Kaviyur

Kaviyur has a very impressive rock-cut cave. Intended as a mini-shrine to Shiva-The Destroyer figure in the Hindu Trinity - it has a lingam and a pillared hall. Carved sentries, a stern chieftain and Shiva’s son Ganesh (shown here with 4 arms) still keep watch in this very well preserved cave temple.
