Thrissur Pooram
The world famous Thrissur pooram in celebrated on the Thekkinkadu maidan of the Vadakkunnatha temple in April/May. The 30 caparisoned elephants from two nearby temples (Paramekkavu & Thiruvabadi) form two groups and exchange colourful parasols. Night time (4 am) is for fireworks diplay. The ground will be highly crowded.
Art Gallery
The town hall is functioning as Art gallery and has many murals.
Zoo
A small zoo located 1 km from town. Closed on Mondays.
Archeological museum
It has a good collection of antiques in dusty condition, located near the
Zoo.
Puthen palli (Church)
It is one of the highest churches in Asia with famous wall paintings. The
bell and the high Bible tower are famous.
Nehru Park
It is the mani park of the town with a good aquarium.
Shaktan Thampuran palace
The palace having exhibits and tomb are located near the Shaktan Thampuran bus stand.
Guruvayur
Famous for the Sree Krishna temple located 30 km from Thrissur. The temple has 51 elephants at Punnathhur kotta, 2 km away.

A beautiful place, 9 km from town.
Athirappilly
This scenic waterfall is 32 km from Chalakudi.
Vazhachal
This scenic waterfall is 6 km from Athirappilly. Perigalkutthu dam is near the waterfall.

This park is on the waterfall road, 8 km from Chalakudi.

It is a beautiful tourist centre on the Perigalkutthu-Sholyar route.

It has boating facility, located 25 km from Thrissur. Chimmini dam and wildlife sanctuary is on the way.
